Best Buys

Shopping for 'stuff' when you live in a bus is limited as there aren't too many places to keep a lot of extra things. However every now and again there are some things we come across that we know will make our life easier. We found three such 'things' in Invercargill when we were there.

No 1
Scoopy. This wonderful tool is a whizz for cleaning the condensation from your windows. We have a lot of glass in the bus and as the weather gets cooler we suffer from very wet windows everything morning. This tool scoops up the water and collects it in the handle. It also comes with a micro fibre cloth to wipe up any missed bits and the window frames.
This link takes you to their website where there is a video clip on exactly how to use it: Scoopy link
I bought our 'Scoopy' at Cleanbiz in Invercargill for $25 which I think has been worth every cent. I am sure there are other outlets throughout NZ or it can be purchased from their website.

No 2

Clothes Horse.  Drying off your washing in a bus can be a mission especially once the days are shorter. It often needs to air even on the best of drying days at this time of the year. The 'run of the mill' folding clothes horse are quite cumbersome and take up a lot of room to both store and use. So when our friends in Clyde showed us one that they had found in Mitre10 we were off down to buy one for ourselves. At $35 it is a bit more expensive than the usual models but it is so compact both when folded down and out airing our clothes. With 7.7m of rail space we love it.

No 3
Vacuum Cleaner.  Keeping the floors clean in the bus have always been a bit of a mission. We have had a dust buster as well as a full sized vacuum cleaner that has had to be stored in the bus. When the dust buster gave up the ghost a few weeks ago we decided that a new approach was called for. In recent months there have been a whole range of upright vacuum cleaners on the market and some of these are 12v and re-chargeable. So with some retail research we  found the perfect cleaner - a Bissell at Godfrey's in Invercargill. At $155 we are rapped with our purchase. It is so easy to use, it has a fold down handle and can store behind the driver's seat.
