Return to Invercargill

Wednesday (23 April) , late in the day,  saw us heading back south. We got as far as Gore that night and camped in the small camping ground belonging to the Gore Town and Country Club. At $8 a night per vehicle on a power site it is very good value for money.

Birthday boy with Helen.
The 24th April has always been a well celebrated date on my calendar as it is my Dad's birthday as well as our friend Rob (ex Invercargill and now Oz whom we sailed with in Greece.)  Last year we celebrated Dad's 90th birthday with style and this year Rob is 60 and we were invited to the Invercargill party to help celebrate with family and friends.  Rob's sister Stephanie and her family have a lifestyle block on the Lorneville-Dacre Road and so there was room for us to park overnight.

We had a lovely afternoon-evening celebrating with a bubbly wine or two, a barbecue and a gorgeous cake that Rob's sisters had iced and decorated to remind him of his Greek holidays.

Next stop was Invercargill and the weather certainly rose to the occasion to welcome us back. With the bus parked back on our Rakiura Parade property, our small woodburner fire roaring we were reminded about just how far south Invercargill is and how fickle and miserable the weather can be!!!!!
