Busy in Blenheim

The rain finally stopped on Thursday morning and we headed into Blenheim for a couple of days. Here we were able to catch up with everyday chores such as our washing and housework - bus style. It is amazing how quickly the dust and grime can accumulate even with a small space. Neither our woodburner or the wet weather helps of course.

I also managed to get myself a haircut and Stephen went on what I thought was a spending rampage. He only went to get a slow leak in one of the car tyres and he came back and announced he had bought four new tyres for the bus!!!  Of course we knew that the four back tyres would need to be replaced before our next COF (bus equivalent of a WOF) but we were hoping to stretch it out for as long as possible. An original quote had them at $600 each so when he found four for a total of $600 it was a bargain too good to pass up.  They are second hand but have almost no wear so they should last us for many years travelling.

While in Blenheim we were also able to catch up some close family friends of Mum and Dad. They have recently moved into a unit in a retirement village which we think is just lovely. Mum and Dad haven't as yet seen it so we will be able to report back.

On Saturday afternoon we drove on out to Picton so we were close for our 11am sailing on the
Arahura ferry on Sunday. We parked up at the Crow Tavern (a Park over Place for NZMCA members.) We wanted a place where we could watch the rugby test on a big screen. Perfect all round.
