Two very different seasides

Over the last couple of days we have visited two very different seasides. On Tuesday after we had visited the Scampston Walled Gardens we still had plenty of day light hours left and thought that since we were quite close to Scarborough we would go and have a look. Scarborough has always held a fascination for me because of the song Scarborough Fair.

We would have to say that we were some what disappointed. We particularly wanted to see the sea so drove to that part of the town. Tacky is probably the best way to describe this part of Scarborough. In its heyday it would have been a wonderful playground for the summer. But now the buildings are crumbling, the arcades dominate and even the water looked murky. We were pleased we had gone for a look but won't be in a hurry to return.

The next day we were keen to detour on our way to Glasgow through Saltburn on the Sea (close to Middlesborough) as this is where our friend Chris hails from. And we were glad we did. What a lovely place and so different from Scarborough. We sat and enjoyed a cuppa while overlooking the view and then took a walk along the top of the cliff. This is definitely a place we could return to explore.
